Intro

Hello, stranger, to my blog.

First things first: this blog is about 8 years late. But you know what they say: better late than never. I came up with the idea towards the end of 2018 when I found out that I would be moving to the Philippines. I thought it could be interesting for the people “back home” to know what it is like to move to the other side of the planet and settle in Manila. And then things happened. New people, places, parties, illnesses, you name it. But I think the main truth is that I did not have either the builder mindset, the commitment or the courage to go public back then.

However, the idea still stands, maybe even more than before. I’ve learned over the past years a lot about the appeals and traps of self-improvement. About the idea of producer vs consumer mindset that really resonates with me. I thought that by journaling, I was producing something, but the truth is that until you are “out there,” it doesn’t count. So this is my “getting out there” and producing something that others can consume.

I will start by telling my story about life in the Philippines from the perspective of a Central European white dude in his early thirties who had never been in Asia before that, except for one quick Beijing business trip. Stories will be from memory, so I might get some details a bit fuzzy, and when I run out of stuff to talk about the Philippines, it will probably transition into some science and self-improvement stuff that I will find interesting to share or that someone might find helpful.

New posts drop every Wednesday night (Central European Time).
We’ll start with why and how I even got there.
